Research & technological development to improve economic profitability and environmental Sustainability of sea Urchin farming

Description

Sea urchin roe (gonad) is consumed worldwide, and is considered a luxury product which sells for lucrative prices in a number of markets. The project aims to encourage the breeding of sea urchin from the European aquaculture industry:
1.reducing the time to reach commercial size;
2.creating and testing systems and diets on land and at sea;
3.investigating the possibility of controlling the gametogenico cycle, allowing rapid growth of gonadal somatic, without the production of sex cells mature;
4.validating the results obtained under test conditions on semi-commercial scale, assessing the technical and economic feasibility;
5.creating instruments for the expansion of echinocoltura through the rapid and effective dissemination of the technology developed within the project.
