PERIURBAN Parks is an INTERREG IVC Regional Initiative project running from 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2012 (36 months)
PERIURBAN Spaces are transition spaces between the city and the countryside. They are suburbs of urban areas, or spaces surrounded by a number of urbanised areas with an elevated concentration of residences. This concept is fairly new but of growing importance at European level.
PERIURBAN Parks brings together 14 European partners interested in exchanging experience on policies to manage these areas, through the creation and management of parks, with a focus on mitigating pressures on biodiversity.
The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC , financed by the European Union's Regional Development Fund, helps regions of Europe work together to share experiences and good practices in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention.
